We have a brave and VERY knowledgeable participant who is quite certain our program helped her avoid a stroke. Watch this powerful testimony by clicking on the link below
Melissa is an Occupational Therapist with an advanced degree. She sees patients on a regular basis and is highly tuned into her patient's, and her own, health. Watch and listen how she believes she was on the verge of a dreadful “adverse event,” a stroke in particular. She gives a compelling testimonial on how something as simple as taking high dose cod liver oil DRAMATICALLY changed her symptoms for the better. She firmly believes, based on her symptoms, that she was on a rapid path to a stroke.
Interestingly, she came to us through Dr. Mercola. I have a great deal of respect for Dr. Mercola. If you listen to my interview with him, we bantered about the value of cod liver oil. He feels that cod liver oil is "synthetic" and is not a big fan of this super food. I must point out that my mentor, Dr. Trempe at Harvard Medical School, prescribed cod liver oil to essentially ALL of his patients. As an eye doctor, he was in the unique position of being able to monitor both the physiology and pathology of his patients. He saw great improvement in his patient's health - as seen through the eye - very consistently. Using the eye, he was able to see the health of the micro vessels and nervous tissue (retinal ganglia cells). He attributed these improvements to cod liver oil and other treatments he used to improve his patient's health.
Alfred Sommer is an award winning doctor at Johns Hopkins who has saved the vision of hundreds of thousands of vulnerable children in the 3rd world.
Throughout the developing world, in Indonesia and Tanzania, in South Africa and Nepal, in virtually all countries where vitamin A deficiency was once common, millions of children owe their eyesight and their very lives to a visionary, persistent doctor from Baltimore. Alfred Sommer, winner of the 1997 Lasker Award for Clinical Medical Research, discovered that vitamin A, known to prevent blindness from xerophthalmia, also gives children the biochemical strength to recover from life-threatening infections that are common in most of the poorest nations on earth.
Vitamin A deficiency is one of the oldest recorded medical conditions. The ancient Egyptians treated night blindness with animal liver (where vitamin A is stored) 3500 years ago. By the early 1900s, the connection between xerophthalmia, overall resistance to infection and vitamin A was well-documented by American and Danish nutritionists who treated their patients with cod liver oil, butter, and whole milk. For all practical purposes, xerophthalmia was erased from the medical map in Europe and North America.
Cod liver oil has the natural forms of vitamin A. Vitamin A is NOT just beta carotene.
Cod liver oil is the oil extracted from the livers of Atlantic cod. It is commonly taken as a dietary supplement and is packed full of nutrients.
It is one of the best sources of omega 3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA), and it contains relatively high amounts of vitamin A and vitamin D.
The exact concentration of nutrients in cod liver oil depends on the species of cod, or Gadus, the oil comes from.
Cod liver was first used in medicine in 1789, to treat rheumatism, followed by rickets in 1824. By the 1930s, it was frequently given to children to help prevent rickets and other conditions caused by vitamin D deficiency.
Other fish oils are extracted from the tissue of deep-sea cold-water fish, including tuna, trout, mackerel, herring, salmon, and cod.
Cod liver oil comes only from the livers of cod. It contains less omega-3 fatty acids than regular fish oils, but more vitamins A and D.
